Check it out: According to a memo obtained by the Boy Genius Report, AT&T has some sort of huge “promotional launch” planned for this summer. As such, the company is asking its employees not to schedule any holidays from mid-June to mid-July so as to ensure sufficient staffing. Me, I’m banking on that highly anticipated 3-G Blackberry 9000, but there are others in the blogosphere that seem to think it could be related to another launch.
Peep the full memo below.

Vacation Schedules
To: All Employees
Last year at this time we asked that all vacations be scheduled before June 15 or after July 15, to ensure adequate store staffing and to give everyone an equal chance to benefit from an exciting product launch. Thanks to your hard work, we experienced excellent sales during the mid-summer period. This year, the numbers you produced in 2007 will be hard to beat; but as a business, we have to rise to the challenge, and make every effort to exceed last yearâs sales results. Your management team is counting on you!
We’ll meet the challenge “head-on” by providing an exciting Summer Promotional Launch to enable your sales to soar. We again anticipate heavier than normal customer traffic in our stores, providing an excellent earning opportunity for each front line retail sales consultant (RSC) in company owned retail stores.
To ensure proper staffing during this period, Sales personnel planning to take approved time off are encouraged to schedule their vacations before June 15 or after July 12 to participate in the heavy selling period.
Previously approved vacation will be allowed where voluntary rescheduling isn’t feasible.
No additional vacation will be approved for 6/15 - 7/12
If customer traffic is manageable, there might be an chance to approve vacation toward the end of the period. Managers will communicate updates as they become available.

If you are a fan of weird, cheap gadgetry, look no further than the “Our Lady of the Trunk” backup alarm. Attach it to your brake lights, mount it on your trunk and laugh as an assertive 100dB feminine voice informs others that you are backing up. [
A German inventor has developed a paint called AR 1 that can hide a car from radar, and most importantly, “all militarily relevant frequencies.” How it works is unclear, though one test researcher proposes it’s either by reflecting radar waves in a pattern so they cancel one another out, or by utilizing microscopic magnets to absorb radar radiation. And no, it won’t get you out of speeding tickets.

The Wii’s “Nintendo Channel” just went live, giving you a way to both watch trailers of current and upcoming Nintendo games, and feed Nintendo information on what games you play. What’s the latter for? So Nintendo can superior customize the trailers of games to recommend to you, thus making you buy more games and completing the cycle by feeding THOSE stats back to them. How good is it? Okay, I suppose. The other stuff, like downloading DS demos and finding game information (how many players, whether the nunchuck is supported) is more useful. Because getting maced just doesn’t suck enough, there’s now mace pepper spray gel. This shit will coat your face with pure, burning stickiness, turning your misinterpreted flirting into a blind search for water or anything else that’ll provide relief for your painful, painful face. The benefit to the sprayer is that there’s no mist, so all of the painful chemicals will end up in your assailant’s eyes, nose and mouth rather than in the air around you. It “sticks to the face like glue,” according to the marketing materials. Holy shit. Only $15! How can you say no?! [
