First Look: iLive’s iT188B iPod Dock Looks and Sounds Slightly More High-priced Than It Is

iLive’s iT188B iPod dock soundbar looks great and sounds OK, but doesn’t offer features and power to match the category’s huge boys. But that’s just fine, because it’s a cheap way to get something that doesn’t humiliate the furniture it rests on.

The dual subwoofers on this 2.1 system aren’t going to rattle any bones, but the sound was surprisingly meaty, filling a 900 square foot room superior than similarly-specced gear in its price range that I’ve messed around with bedore. There’s an integrated AM/FM radio (but only an AM antenna in the box), an auxiliary input for other devices, composite video pass-through, and a sub-out for attaching a proper subwoofer. A wall-mounting kit is also provided.

iLive paid attention to design. The unit is clean-lined, with a mechanized, retracting iPod dock and a white, somewhat dim LCD display. There is some chrome trim lurking around the edges threatening the otherwise pleasant look, but hey, it’s only $99.

The iT188B will be out in April at huge boxes.

Dixau Text Scanner Uses the Internet to Help You Comprehend Massive Words [Gadgets]

Reading comprehension not your thing? Fear not because a Korean company named Unichal has developed a tiny scanner that can capture an image of troublesome words and then relay them back to the Personal computer. Once there, the included software will automatically apply the term to Wikipedia, Google, or a dictionary of your choosing to assist in your understanding. A gadget like this could definitely be useful—especially for someone learning a second language. Plus, at around $90, it’s not going to break the bank. A video of the Dixau in action is available after the break.

Picture_1If paying 3x for a fancy wooden USB thumbdrive doesn’t entice you, maybe getting it with a custom engraving will.

Zana design’s skills don’t go far. Their “flash drive with style” ad has a jagged font, imposed on an Amiga-style gradient and what appear to be photoshopped renditions of the advertised engraving. Yuk.

As such, it’s still the perfect gift to go with the walnut dashboard in your uncle’s 1980s Jaguar, just moreso. Assuming that you’re ready to pay $56 for a 1GB drive or $105 for an 8GB one, that is.

Area 51 Sex Doll Has Three Boobs, Comes With Free Alien Lube (NSWF) [Wrongmodo]

Today, after years of secrecy, autopsies, and extraterrestrial bodily fluids and Tijuana tequila cocktails, humanity jumps once again into the deepest pits of indecent horror, pits which we thought we wouldn’t revisit again after the talking clown urinal, the sickening Jesuswitch and the twisted Spongebob Squarepants singing rectal thermometer. NSFW illustration ahead.

PD8612-00.JPG

It’s the love doll they never wanted you to know about! For years they’ve locked it away, kept it classified and tried to prevent man from enjoying extraterrestrial pleasure. Now you can experience what humans have fantasized about for decades…incredible sex with an alien! It’s pussy-shaped mouth, 3 supples breasts, suction cup fingers and ass-shaped ears make it the kinkiest love slave in the galaxy.

Suctioncupfingersthreeboobedpussymouthvinyl? I’ll be there like shareware. Buying one now. Test with me, Addy, and possibly the dog, soon. [Sextoy via Nerd Approved]

The digital signal conversion deadline is looming over the heads of the U.S. TV-viewing public and for once, it appears that the government is actually being proactive about helping out. Through the NTIA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration), the government is offering rebates and promoting the upcoming change through a coupon program and strong marketing effort.

Of course, a good number of people likely won’t care about this until the last second, another chunk of them will freak out and send hate emails to Television stations, and a little petering handful will just walk out and see the daylight for the first time in years.

isonicast.pngThere seems something almost willfully perverse about a remote control for an iPod. After all, the music player is a lot more portable and pocket friendly than most remotes. Monster solves this by using the iPod as the remote.

The iSoniCast comes in two pieces. One plugs into your stereo and one into the iPod’s Dock Connector. The music is streamed wirelessly between the two, which means you can use the familiar iPod interface to control your music.

To be honest, this is something that should be built in to at least the iPod Touch and the iPhone. They both have WiFi, right? So if you’ve an Airport Express hooked up to your stereo for streaming iTunes, surely it makes sense for the iPod to do the same.

In the meantime, Monster’s solution certainly looks the part, even if it is a fairly dear $100. No batteries required, and it’s more practical than a coat hanger.

Our female modify egos at Tech Digest just scored a video hands-on with Samsung’s new YP-S3 MP3 player. The iPod nano rival should be out this June and is quite similar to its Cupertino competition, with a screen only 0.2-inches smaller and comparable music, photo and video playback abilities. The Samsung adds a built-in FM radio and a 2GB option to accompany the usual 4GB and 8GB models. [Tech Digest]
