The Wedisk USB 2.0 thumb drive has its USB connector located where the IR receptor is, coming out only when you press the A button. The Wedisk is available in either 1GB, 2GB, 4GB or 8GB flavors, but apparently it’s only available as a mass-produced item, on request. [SolarMemo — Thanks, Chris]

Blueray_vs_hddvd Apparently some Toshiba customers have gotten the idea that since the company has ditched its HD DVD format, they should be able to return recently bought players or get some kind of consideration for buying equipment that suddenly seems worth a lot less than it did when Toshiba was making lavish promises about the format. Valleywag neatly kills off those fantasies with this response from a Toshiba flak, who seems to be saying it’s your own damn fault for believing Toshiba in the first place:

There is nothing wrong with the products so we aren’t accepting returns from customers … [Customers] understood that there were two competing formats and understood that one of them would probably prevail … so they made the decision to go with HD-DVD… [Toshiba will] assist customers in understanding the benefits of the products.

Toshiba states “no refunds, suckers” to HD-DVD early adopters [Valleywag]

scanit_playset.jpgBilled as a way of acclimatizing kids with airport security checks, the Scan-It X-Ray machine detects the presence of metal in objects and is, let’s face it, a scary addition to your child’s toy box. Stick Barbie on the conveyor belt, pass her through the Scan-It and you’ll be able to see if her IUD is in place or not. It costs $29.95, but I’m going to hang on for the Crazy CIA Waterboarding Kit. Seriously. [OhGizmo]
