Large Panavision Bazooka HD Lens Delivers 300X Zoom [Big Ass Glass]
Even Canon’s BFG of telephoto lenses is but a wee fish in the vast ocean of big-ass glass. Today’s whale shark specimen: The Panavision 300x HD lens. It’s actually a broadcast HD lens, but that makes this sucker no less ridiculous. It’s over three feet in length and weighs 85 lbs. (dwarfing the Canon by several inches and 50 lbs.) while delivering a gaping 7-2100mm continuous focal length range (F1.9-F/13) for 300X zoom. Which is a .3 degree field of vision. The cost? 300X what you’re thinking. [Panavision]

“Shopping” at Ikea is more of an enjoyable afternoon outing than an swift in-and-out errand, so anything that helps make the experience even more pleasant gets a thumbs-up from us. This Ikea Mobile kiosk was found in Seattle by Unpluggd, and grants you to scan bar codes for products to get sent via SMS to your phone.
By doing so you also opt-in to get access to coupons and specials for the week, as well as “regular updates via text message for deals and discounts.” Cool while you’re in the store, but somewhat annoying if you’re getting pinged by Ikea about Poang chairs every week. Cell phone battery boosters are useful, but only if you remember to charge them and take them with you. The StrapYa takes care of both those problems. It hangs from your phone like one of those adorable tiny cellphone charms, and it juices its own battery with a solar cell. In full sunlight it will charge in six to ten hours. A supplied AC adapter also lets you charge from the mains on cloudy days.
This is for emergency use only: A fully charged StrapYa only gives 15-25 minutes of use, just enough to phone your friends and tell them your battery is almost dead. ¥1900 ($18).

Apple is famous for its packaging, and rightly so. The company seems to put as much thought into the box as it does the product inside. But was it always this way? Nearly. Dan Budiac picked up a mint Apple IIc on Ebay. The box was still sealed, but he went ahead and opened it anyway, and posted the resulting unboxing photos on Flickr.
Most notable are the stickers. Apple shipped its personal with Apple stickers in the box back in the 80s, just care about it does this day. Only then, they were a lot more colorful.
